She will cover multiple species and their interesting natural history that she covers in her recent field guide "Plants of the Appalachian Trail".

There will be a variety of projects suitable for all age groups, so bring out the entire family! Please bring clothes you can get dirty, work gloves if possible and appropriate footwear.

After a morning of volunteering, participants are invited to a grilled lunch courtesy of the Friends of Pine Grove Furnace. Volunteers staying for lunch are welcome to bring a covered dish to share.

*Registration is required by September 25*

Please register using the link provided on this page. If you are bringing a group, each participant must be registered as a Conservation Volunteer through the volunteer website. For groups that include minors (e.g., scout groups, church youth groups), a parent or legal guardian must sign the Volunteer Agreement prior to the event. Minor volunteers ages 13 to 17 may register directly on the volunteer website, which will prompt parent or guardian approval as part of the process. If necessary, paper copies of the Volunteer Agreement are available upon request by emailing PineGroveFurnaceEEPrograms@pa.gov

The hike will include sections of the Hiker-Biker-A.T., Koppenhaver Trail, Brickyard Trail and Creek Trail. Total distance will be around 4 miles with several options to drop out early if desired. The route includes some uneven terrain and trip hazards. No baby strollers please. Leashed dogs are welcome. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes. Meet at the old stone furnace stack located at 20 Quarry Road, GPS: 40.03184, -77.30649.

4:45-5:30 PM Campground Trick-Or-Treat: Judges will be around to select the top 3 best decorated campsites while families walk the campground to trick-or-treat!

Bring the entire family for this free performance in the State Park Amphitheater, which is just south from the Campgrounds along Bendersville Road. Most visitors should park in the large gravel lot next to Bendersville Road, and walk down to the Amphitheater. A very limited number of handicap parking spots are closer to the seating area, down a short but steep driveway. Campers can simply walk to the Amphitheater using a short path on the south end of the Family Campground.
