We will go over how to find macroinvertebrates, ID them, and use that information to determine the health of our stream. This can be done using any stream, so if you want to check your backyard this is the place to learn!

We will spend a large portion of the time in the stream wading so please bring a change of shoes for the stream (crocs, sandals, old sneaker ect), a towel to dry your feet off, bug spray, sunscreen, and a full water bottle. All other materials will be provided. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Designed for beginners, we'll go over the basics of paddling, entering and exiting the kayak, and how to safely navigate being on the water.

Kayaks, paddles, and PFDs will be provided. Registration is required due to limted resources. Only children 12 years and older can participate, all minors must be accompanied by and adult.

We'll start the evening with a brief night hike stopping at various locations to do activites that help us understand how noctural (night-time) animals survive at night, especially when it seems so scary to us! We'll switch gears after the first hour so Jenna can tell us how Moths survive the night, and she has some pretty cool activities to get an up-close view of our beautiful, winged, friends.

Registration is required due to the nighttime aspect of the program so we have an idea of attendance, registration will close the evening before the event (July 23rd). You are encouraged to bring bug spray, comfortable walking shoes, and a fashlight with a red setting (if it doesn't have a red setting you will not be able to use it on-trail as it will disturb our night vision).

Registration is required if you need to borrow a kayak. All kayakers are welcome, if you have your own it is recommended you bring it. PFDs can be provided to those who are borrowing kayaks, for those bringing their own kayaks, you must have a lifeguard approved PFD availible within your kayak at all times on the water.

Payment can be done day of as cash or prior to the event at the park office.

Learn about the wonders of the night sky through this unique opportunity to be at Memorial Lake after sunset.

This hour-long program will include a guided walk through parks of memorial lake, binoculars with guided constellation observation, and observing nocturnal wildlife.

It is advised to bring comfortable walking shoes, a red light, and your curiosity for this night time wonder walk!

Ladies, have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly fish?  Now is your opportunity to learn about fly fishing alongside other women! Join PFBC staff and Fishing Skills Instructors (FSI) for this FREE program, designed to introduce you to the basics of fly fishing!

Reading the water  

Hooking, landing, and releasing fish  

Fly fishing gear and instruction is provided for the duration of the program at no cost to participants!  

Participants who register and attend the program, will receive a fly fishing packet at the in-person portion of the program and additional fly fishing resources via email.
