Children and their grown-ups are welcome to come learn about fish and fishing in Hopewell Lake. Next, try your hand at catching a few fish from the ADA fishing pier. French Creek State Park will provide fishing rods, bobbers, and hooks, but please bring your own bait, if possible. Afterward, enjoy a fun craft.

This program will take place entirely outside. You are encouraged to bring a snack, drink, and hat. **Registration is required for ALL participants. Spaces are limited, and registration closes 2 days prior to camp date. There is a $10 fee for each youth.

**This program will be cancelled in case of severe inclement weather. Please check your email to receive any cancellation updates.

All other fishing requirements (such as size and creel limits) still apply. Bring your bait and fishing pole and spend a relaxing afternoon fishing. (Note: live bait can be purchased from the vending machine at the Park Office.)

If you'd like to learn how to fish, stop by the Hopewell Lake Fishing Pier between 9am and 1 pm. Park staff will be on hand to assist, and equipment will be available to borrow.

We will hike the 3-mile loop around Hopewell Lake and then we will watch the full moon (the second one this month!) rise at about 9 pm. Families with children are welcome to attend; all children should be able to hike up to 3 miles and must be accompanied by an adult. Red-light headlamps are available at registrant request!

During the walk we will be spotting the birds that inhabit this rare meadow terrain. This trail is plentiful with indigo buntings, yellow breasted chats, and summer season warblers such as prairie and blue winged warblers. This is the best time of year to get a view of these birds! The walk will be easy terrain with some inclines. Binoculars provided for participants who do not have any.
