The Winter Solstice arrives at 10:03am on December 21, 2025 in the Northern Hemisphere. Come celebrate the shortest day of the year with a joyous hike through the forest as we investigate and participate in some Welsh and German solstice customs. Why Welsh and German? Nolde Forest is situated in Cumru Township, which was settled by Welsh and German immigrants in the 18^th Century.

This hike will feature inclines and uneven terrain and is NOT stroller friendly.   Make sure you dress for the weather for this two hour hike by wearing layers and hiking shoes!  After the hike, we hope you warm up in the Nolde Mansion as you explore the open house.

This program is FREE but registration is required, as spaces are limited. We will not be able to take walk up participants. Registration will open on Nov 1 for this program.

Due to the increasing popularity of our programming and the growing number of people on the waitlist for programs, we require a 24-hour cancellation notice for all programs. This will allow us time to reach out to other participants/families on the wait list and allow them to fill your spot. Individuals who repeatedly do not cancel before the program and who repeatedly do not show up to the program will be prohibited from signing up for future programs.
