Canceled -- Wildlife Rescue Training Weekend

Amid concerns about the potential spread of COVID-19, all public programs, events, and trainings in state parks and forests are canceled through April 30. Except for the parks and forests that have been announced as closed, state park and forest facilities remain open.

Wildlife Capture and Transport ($50.00)

Saturday, April 4th, 2020
9:00 am to 4:00 pm  Doors open at 8:30 am)

 

The PA Game Commission and the USFW Service require people who routinely respond to injured and distressed wildlife hold permits. This course meets the educational and testing requirements for receiving this permit in Pennsylvania. (Written exam given at the end of the day). This 5-hour course covers basics of wildlife capture in the field, legal issues, safety, equipment, recognizing true emergencies, proper capture and handling techniques, public relations and education.

Notice: This course meets the educational requirements of obtaining a wildlife capture and transport permit. Other requirements include being sponsored by a wildlife rehabilitator and passing a background check.

 

Wildlife First-Aid in the Field ($30.00)

Sunday, April 5th, 2020
9:00 am to 12 noon (Doors open at 8:30 am)

 

This 3-hour class is designed for wildlife capture and transport permittees, trainees, wildlife rehabilitators, and wildlife rehabilitation volunteers. Topics include: basic stabilization, shock, temperature stabilization, fluids, wounds, fractures, glue traps, baby birds, and hummingbirds.

 

WIN Wildlife Courier Training ($20.00)

Sunday, April 5th, 2020
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

 

This 2-hour training is for those interested in assisting with rescue and transport of wild animals in need. Wildlife Courier duties may include transporting an animal to a rehabilitation center, veterinarian hospital, or another wildlife courier; assisting a capture and transport permittee with the location and capture of an animal; or assisting with a coordinated group rescue.
