Join park staff to explore the woods along a mile and a half portion of the North Country National Scenic Trail, hunting for the beautiful flowers of spring, then taking the road through “Rock City" to loop back to the Point. We will identify and discuss some of the spring wildflowers and other plants seen in the woods and may spot trillium, violets, wild ginger, bluets, hepatica, spring beauties, and a variety of ferns. This trail into the Slippery Rock Gorge, a National Natural Landmark, is difficult hiking as it follows the east bank of the Slippery Rock Creek. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring a snack or water if you wish. Bring your camera if you want to capture these beauties. Meet in the Point Parking Area, McConnells Mill Rd, Portersville, PA 16051, 1/3 mile north of Kildoo Picnic Area.
