https://warrenwinterfest.com/Warren County Winterfest is the largest winter event in the Pennsylvania Wilds region. Held at Chapman State Park in late January of each year, our event features a variety of Winter outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy.
On Friday, Winterfest kicks off in the morning with the mid-distance race, part of the Jim Lobdell Memorial Sled Dog Races at Chapman State Park. The “Meet the Musher” supper will be held Friday at 5:00 p.m. at nearby Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club. The start/finish line for all Lobdell Races will be in the Campground Parking Lot at the southeastern end of the park.
On Saturday morning, Chapman State Park begins a slate of family-fun events, starting with Lobdell “unlimited” sled dog race. The Canine Weight Pull starts at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, and on 10:00 a.m. Sunday. National-champion weight pulling dogs compete next to Restroom and Pavilion #2 before the beach on the eastern (“spillway”) side of the lake.
The Sled Riding Hill on the west side of the lake will be open to the public.
The Patrick Shine Polar Bear Plunge is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday afternoon on the Beach. Plungers register prior to the event, each donating to benefit the Salvation Army’s Warren citadel.
The Allegheny National Forest Snowmobile Loop passes through Chapman State Park. Snowmobilers riding the four-county Loop are welcome to stop at the park and enjoy Winterfest.
The Quadrathlon is going to be headquartered at Pavilion #2 on the eastern (“spillway”) side of the lake. There will also be a Geocachers’ “Geomeet” in Pavilion #2 Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with Geocaching.
If you have questions on the events or you want to find a place to stay overnight, please call either the Chapman State Park office of the Warren County Visitors Bureau.
See you at Winterfest!
