Walk in Penn's Woods- Susquehannock State Forest

Spend a beautiful fall morning walking among fall foliage in the Susquehannock State Forest! Join our Natural Resource Professionals on a group walk exploring the Bark Shanty C.C.C Camp. The trail is less than a mile in length with relatively easy walking conditions with some elevation changes, rough stone steps, roots and holes to avoid. The trail highlights several foundations and other structural remains of the former camp. Please wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather. Feel free to bring water, snacks, and binoculars (you never know what you might see) on the trail with you! With the expanded Sunday hunting dates in Pennsylvania, it is encouraged to wear orange in the woods during hunting season. If you have an orange hat or other piece of clothing feel free to wear it on our hike. If you have any questions, you can contact Chelsea Beck at chebeck@pa.gov or 570-948-4147.
