Looking to recreate while avoiding crowds? Consider stargazing from the convenience of your own backyard, at a nearby park, or perhaps at a dark sky park, like Cherry Springs. This short program will tell you what you need to know before you go stargazing and several highlights to look for in the night sky.
This program is designed for first-time or novice stargazers and more specifically is part of the Girl Scouts Love State Parks Weekend 2020. Our park professionals will get you observing stars, constellations, planets, the moon, artificial satellites such as the space station, meteors, aurora and even the milky way (if your skies are dark enough). We’ll also highlight Cherry Springs State Park, why it is one of the best places to go stargazing, and what you need to know to make the most of your visit.
About 3 days prior to the program, you will receive an email with the link to join the program. This presentation is best viewed on a desktop or larger tablet. *Note: This program does NOT take place at the park.
