Virtual: Animal Prognosticators

"Come and join us for a fun program on the animal world, and why we believe they can tell the weather.

OK, admit it. You were eagerly awaiting word recently from a famous groundhog as to whether spring would come early. In the autumn you watch out for wooly bear caterpillars, and look for where hornets built their nests. In today’s digital world, with weather forecasts instantly at our fingertips and Doppler Radar showing us storms in real time, we still cling to these customs from the past. Where these traditions came from will be presented in this off-beat program into the animal world. We will also look into the animals themselves, to learn about their behaviors and habits that lead people to believe they can foretell the weather. And, maybe, we will look to see if there is anything to the claims these animals can predict the weather!"

This program will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams. It will be hosted by park educator Paul Fagley of Greenwood Furnace.
