Michaux State Forest Tree Planting at Big Pine Flat

Please join Michaux State Forest alongside the Friends of Michaux and their Wildlife Workgroup in planting over 200 trees (including large ball and burlap trees) into pre-dug holes at the Big Pine Flat area. Big Pine Flat is a unique scrub oak ecosystem that the district is working to restore with partners such as National Wild Turkey Federation, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, and South Mountain Partnership. Previous work in the area has included prescribed fire, fencing, and other management techniques. We are looking for volunteers to help us plant the trees into pre-dug holes. We will be planting from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Feel free to join us for the whole day or come for a few hours. This volunteer workday will be capped at the first 20 volunteers, so don’t wait to RSVP!

What to bring:
Gloves and safety glasses. We will have extra gloves if needed.

Boots or sturdy shoes, long pants, and a long shirt.

Water, snacks, and your own lunch. Lunch will not be provided.

Rain or shine. May be canceled in the event of severe weather.

Directions and Parking:
We will meet at Big Pine Flat along Ridge Road, located approximately a half mile south of Shippensburg Road. https://goo.gl/maps/FuhPMsqewp9e5HhVA (GPS Coordinates: 39.992578, -77.422379). Parking will be along Ridge Road.
