SOLD OUT: The Friends of Nolde Forest present: Full Moon Owl Hike
3025 New Holland Road, Reading, PA 19607
THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT - No more tickets will be sold.
Join the Friends of Nolde Forest for the first full moon of 2023 with a very special night hike! This program costs $10.00 per person, paid in advance. Your space will not be held until payment is complete. Due to limited space and interest in the program, tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE if you do not cancel 48 hours before the start of the program.
We will start indoors with a presentation on Nolde Forest’s resident owl populations and what makes them so special. Examine owl wings, skulls, and dissect your own owl pellet to see the inner workings of their digestive system. You’ll even get to meet a real owl up close from our friends at Indian River Run EEC!
Then we will venture outdoors for a silent hike, guided only by the light of the full moon (if conditions allow). Along the route, we will stop, look, and listen for the owls and practice being quiet and mindful in the winter forest. We will be outdoors for 1 to 1.5 hours, so please dress for the weather, layer up, and bring a flashlight in case of emergencies.
Due to the advanced nature of this program, it is for ages 13 and up. Please be certain that you are able to walk ~2 miles in the dark and cold and understand that this is a mindful walk, so that you will be asked to be silent for much of the hike.
If you are looking for programs for younger participants, we will be offering an afterschool owl camp for students earlier in the day which you can register for here: https://events.dcnr.pa.gov/event/afterschool_camp_owls
PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER CHILDREN YOUNGER THAN 13 FOR THIS ADULT LEVEL PROGRAM
