The Bats of Nolde Forest

Join Nolde Forest Staff as we investigate the only flying mammal – the bat! We will start this family program in our picnic area with a reading of Nicola Davies’ book “Bat Loves the Night” (which every family will get to take home after the program!). Then we will move into McConnell Hall Classroom for a presentation about the bats of Pennsylvania: the different species, bat biology, and what makes them so special…. And vulnerable.

At sunset we will venture outside to look for bats flying in the forest. We will use special technology to help us listen to bat echolocation and help us identify the different species flying just over our heads in the darkness! If the weather permits, our friends from PA Bat Rescue will be releasing some rehabilitated bats to fly free in the skies of Nolde Forest once again!
