This presentation will examine the Underground Railroad, abolition, and anti-slavery movements in 19th century Northeastern Pennsylvania. Many people and places in the region played key roles in the fight to end the institution of slavery during the Civil War era and had major impacts on both the local and national stage.
Presented by EJ Murphy, the Program Manager of the Destination Freedom: Underground Railroad Walking Tour program at the Waverly Community House, which aims to help share this important history and tell the stories of often overlooked individuals in the fight for freedom.
