Susquehanna Heritage Paddle Tour

Discover the Heritage Area from the water. Paddle from Columbia Crossing to The Zimmerman Center for Heritage to see and experience this corridor of the Susquehanna River, learn about history and ecology of the river and explore the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail.

$10.00 per person – includes your kayak, paddle, PFD, transportation, and guided tour from Susquehanna Heritage staff. Light refreshments will be provided at the end of the paddle. Option of single or tandem kayaks available. Personal kayaks not permitted.

For ages 12 and up, under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Kayaking experience is not necessary but expect moderate physical exertion. Dress for the weather.

This is a weather-dependent event. If the weather is inclement or the waters unsafe to proceed, all registrants will be notified as soon as possible prior to the beginning of the event and a full refund will be issued if cancelled.

Paddle Itinerary:

10:00 am – Check-in at Columbia Crossing River Trails Center

10:15 am – Safety and paddle overview with Chiques Rock Outfitters

10:30 am – Put in at Columbia River Park kayak launch

10:30-1:00 pm – Paddle south along the Susquehanna River with guided tour and a stop along the way

1:00 pm – Pull out at The Zimmerman Center for Heritage, light lunch/refreshments and overview of the house

1:30 pm – Shuttle back to Columbia Crossing River Trail Center
