Story Book Trail - Little Red Riding Hood

301 Peninsula Drive, Suite 1, Erie, PA 16505-2042

Free Event

Take a walk and read a story at the same time. Throughout the month of January 2022, visit Presque Isle State Park for a self-guided story walk along the Karl Boyes multi-purpose trail beginning at Vista One. In this inspired rendering of the classic Grimm Brothers folktale, Caldecott Medal-winning artist Jerry Pinkney introduces two favorite children's characters to a new generation: the sly, scary wolf and the sweet little girl in her famous red hood. Pinkney's charming, masterfully-wrought illustrations--as warm and cozy as Little Red's cloak and as captivating as the clever wolf himself--are sure to lure you into the heart of this treasured tale. Total walk out and back is ½ mile. This self- guided trail discovery is fun for all ages and can be completed at your own leisure during daylight hours.

After your walk, visit the Tom Ridge Environmental Center to meet the “Big Bad Wolf”. A wolf mount will be on display and you will have an opportunity to learn that this wolf isn’t so bad after all. The Tom Ridge Environmental Center is open 7 days a week from 8am to 4pm.

Program may be modified or cancelled at discretion of park staff.

For more information, please contact the Presque Isle State Park office, located on the second floor of the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, at 814-833-7424.  The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM – 4 PM. If you need an accommodation to participate in park activities due to a disability, please contact the park you plan to visit.
