Squirreling Away

966 Marina Road, Patton, PA 16668-6317

Free Event

As summer fades to fall, and fall into winter, humans and animals alike begin to prepare for the cold weather and long nights by storing the bountiful harvest from the earlier months. While humans have refrigerators and grocery stores to make their life easier, wildlife doesn’t have quite the same luxuries. In this program for children ages 9-15, we will look at different food-storage strategies used by squirrels in Pennsylvania by playing an outdoor winter survival game, and learn different ways these animals can make it through the snowy season.

Meet at the Pickerel Pond Day-use Area. Be sure to dress for the weather! We will be outdoors for the entire program!

Registration required by clicking the green "register" button to the right.
