Slippery Rock Gorge Trail Hike – Wednesday, October 2, 2024
8:30 AM – 1:00 PM – Hells Hollow Parking Lot – McConnells Mills
Join Park Staff and members of the North Country Trail Association on a 6.5 mile guided hike through the Slippery Rock Gorge to help celebrate North Country National Scenic Trail Day on the nation’s longest trail. The North Country Trail stretches over 4,800 miles through eight states. We will start at Hell’s Hollow and end at Eckert Bridge. The Slippery Rock Gorge is a National Natural Landmark, created by the draining of glacial lakes thousands of years ago. Huge boulders litter the valley floor and several breathtaking waterfalls add a natural beauty to the landscape. This hike is considered a more difficult hike, so hikers should be in good physical shape and be prepared to traverse steep, rocky and uneven terrain. Bring a lunch, plenty of water and trail snacks to keep your energy up and spirits high on this challenging hike. Program will be limited to 12 participants. Pre-registration is required.
