2951 Prospect Rd., Slippery Rock, PA 16057-5023

Free Event

Take a walk back in history with the third installment in this new series. Answer the question "How was coal formed?" Learn about the history of the abandoned Brydon coalmine, on-site at Jennings. Discover the polluted water that runs out of the mine and investigate the measures taken to improve the water quality. Also, visit the Foltz Hill schoolhouse, a one-room schoolhouse also on-site, to learn its history and the history of education in Butler County.

The Silver Sciences Series is designed for active seniors who enjoy outdoor activities and wish to expand their science and nature knowledge.

Activities will be adapted to lessen the need to stoop or bend but will require the ability to walk over uneven surfaces and terrain for distances of up to a half mile at a time. All equipment will be provided.

This program is FREE but pre-registration is required no later than Monday, August 26th. Register by clicking the green button to the right or by calling the Center at 724-794-6011.
