Shoaff's Mill Tour
1579 State Park Road, Newport, PA 17074-9428
Shoaff's Mill is a 19th century operational grist mill that is open for tours every Saturday & Sunday from May through the Apple Festival in October, *staff permitting*. Originally built around 1840 to serve the Juniata iron furnace community, this mill provided the surrounding region with cornmeal, flour, and various animal feeds. Come and see the 32' Fitz waterwheel turn as it has for over 100 years and check out a variety of milling tools and machinery.
The mill will also be open during Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day, and is available for private tours. For closures, changes in time, or special events like corn grinding demonstrations, check our Facebook page or contact the park office. For more history at Little Buffalo, check out the historic Blue Ball Tavern, open on Sundays during the summer from 1-4pm. Contact the park office for details & closures - 717-567-9255.
