Winter is a wonderful time to go out and explore nature.  Hike the Sunken Garden Trail as a one mile easy loop, following the ground hog signs to learn about nature on the trail.  Designed to be shared with young children, this self-guided trail may be hiked by anyone, any day through February, at any time during daylight. 

Start at the Sunken Garden trailhead across from the restroom at Pleasant Valley, the first right 1/4 mile past the South Shore park office, 225 Pleasant Valley Road, Portersville, PA 16051.

Dress for the weather, be aware trails may be wet or icy, and wear some blaze orange as portions of the trail are open to hunting. Note - this is an independent activity for your family group, please follow current guidelines from the CDC and State Health Department.
