Explore fascinating history hidden in plain sight at Jennings Environmental Education Center during the Self-Guided Walkabout: Reading the Landscape, from December 6 through 21. Using a guide and numbered stops, visitors will uncover clues etched into the land, learning to “read” rocks, streams, trees, and more to understand how humans have shaped—and been shaped by—this land over centuries. Discover how the terrain reveals patterns of historical use, from early settlement to industrial impacts, and how today’s environment bears the imprints of these choices.
No registration is required. Guides can be picked up at the Center (outside and inside). Visitors wishing to receive the guide electronically may contact jenningssp@pa.gov or call 724-794-6011. The printed guide and experience are available sunrise to sunset December 6-21 beginning at the Center entrance. The route contains some slopes and uneven terrain.
