Scouts Special - Science Outside: Maple Sugaring!

Scouts Special: Maple Sugaring brings scouts and their families into the living lab of the great outdoors to explore the science and math behind making maple syrup on Saturday, February 27. This choose-your-own adventure style experience is self-guided (with guide and tools provided), hands-on, and scouts completing the experience will receive a special patch for their participation. The fee is $2/scout (no charge for adults or siblings).

This experience includes:

  • Virtual introduction from Jennings staff, including guidance on using exploration tools
  • An investigation guide to complete together as a family, containing activities for exploring maple math and sugaring science
  • A loaner kit to aid in your exploration of maple trees and more, including items like measuring tools, tree ID guides, and more!
  • Resources for continuing the explorations and learning at home

When? February 27. Individual families or scout groups of up to 12 scouts can register for their own time slot (groups of larger than 12 scouts should register for additional time slots). Available time slots are for every half hour, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. The experience is designed to last approximately 1.5 hours.
