Scouts Special: Maple Sugaring brings scouts and their families into the living lab of the great outdoors to explore the science and math behind making maple syrup on Saturday, February 27. This choose-your-own adventure style experience is self-guided (with guide and tools provided), hands-on, and scouts completing the experience will receive a special patch for their participation. The fee is $2/scout (no charge for adults or siblings).
This experience includes:
When? February 27. Individual families or scout groups of up to 12 scouts can register for their own time slot (groups of larger than 12 scouts should register for additional time slots). Available time slots are for every half hour, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. The experience is designed to last approximately 1.5 hours.
Who? Especially meant for scouts in grades 2-6, but siblings welcome.
How? Registration is required by clicking the register button or by calling 724-794-6011. When registering, register one responsible adult (i.e. parent or leader), and provide names for ALL participants (adults and children) and ages for ALL scouts in the “Additional Info We Should Know” section. We’ll email a link to the virtual introduction and an electronic copy of the guide at least a day in advance of your scheduled time. Upon arrival, you’ll check out the loaner kit and receive the printed guide (if desired), then complete the activities together in designated areas of the park. A valid Driver’s License required for kit reservation.
