Science & Stories (1st-3rd grade Edition)
3025 New Holland Road, Reading, PA 19607
Join park staff for this scientific exploration of the forest told through an age appropriate story!
In this session for learners in first through third grade and their adults, we will explore the lifecycle of our local butterfly populations. Students will explore wings and other specimens up close and then spend some time observing butterfly behavior in the forest. Perhaps we can even find some caterpillars on their host plants!
To get our minds ready to explore we will start the session by reading “"Caterpillar to Butterfly” by National Geographic Kids. Thanks to a generous grant from The Lawrence Foundation and Books in Homes, USA, children who register will be able to take home a copy of the book at the end of the program. We hope that by reading the story again at home you can talk about and reinforce some of the discoveries we make out in the forest.
Books are limited, so please register your entire group by clicking the green button.
