The cool wet area around Swatara’s creek is perfect salamander habitat! Meet at Trout Run Trailhead for an evening salamander search (though we might even see other herps while we're at it). We’ll start the program by talking about these unique amphibians and what distinguishes them from other inhabitants our park, followed by a hike to explore the creek and hunt along the forest floor. A limited number of nets and containers will be provided, so feel free to bring your own if you have them. Please also wear shoes that you are okay with getting wet!
