Pennsylvania Native Species Day
1023 Sycamore Mills Rd., Media, PA 19063-4398
Invasive plants species including plants, feral cats, insects/invertebrates, pathogens and more pose a huge threat to the biodiversity of native flora and fauna in ecosystems throughout the world. Celebrate Pennsylvania Native Species Day (officially May 18th) and World Biodiversity Day (officially May 22) by joining your DCNR Park Naturalist for a combined nature hike to identify local native vs. invasive plants and other species along park trails and learn how we can help protect and enhance wildlife habitat. Participants are welcome to bring work gloves and clippers for some actual hands on experience battling invasive plants along the way while learning how to enhance your own back yard habitat. Registration not required. Additional information on other Pennsylvania Native Species Day Programs throughout the commonwealth is available at: www.NativeSpeciesDay.pa.gov.
