Pennsylvania and the Ice Age
McConnells Mill State Park - Kildoo Parking Area: 40.951710, -80.168474
We live in an area that has been sculpted by recent geologic activity. This program will explain how Ice Age events created many of the features that we associate with Moraine State Park and the McConnell's Mills area. We will learn to identify and interpret features such as moraines, kettle holes, eskers, gorges, weathering patterns, and rock types.
This session is casual and easy to follow and serves as great start for amateur geologists. There are picnic table benches, or bring your own chair if you wish. Ryan Stauffer, a naturalist with the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania (and local guide) will be presenting.
