Pennsylvania Songbirds Educator Workshop

500 Kings Gap Rd., Carlisle, PA 17015-9306

It's not just students who get to begin a new season of learning, but educators get to do that too! Join us for an educator workshop featuring the newly revised Pennsylvania Songbirds curriculum & activity guide. PA Songbirds is a hands-on, interdisciplinary K-8 educators’ resource and activity guide with over 40 lessons, pre-made student sheets, and organizers that sort each lesson by topic and grade level. Lessons are designed to introduce and enhance the learners’ knowledge of observation and identification of songbirds, bird biology, habitat, migration, and more, while helping teachers meet PA STEELS standards.

Our three educators are excited to welcome classroom teachers and non-formal educators (including, but not limited to, pre-service teachers, scout leaders, homeschool educators, pre-service teachers, youth leaders and naturalists) or anyone else who would like to engage children in science and our environment through the wonderful world of birds! All participants will receive the newly updated PA Songbirds Activity Guide. Five (5.0) Act 48 hours are available to educators holding Pennsylvania public school certification.

Morning refreshments with snack and lunch are provided. The workshop will be held indoors and outdoors. Pre-registration required.

You must pre-register for this workshop by October 30th. Contact kingsgapsp@pa.gov
or 717-486-5031 to register.

Pennsylvania Songbirds is coordinated by DCNR - Bureau of State Parks. The guide was developed in partnership between PA DCNR - Bureau of State Parks & Audubon Mid-Atlantic.
