Science Learning: Beyond the Walls Teacher Workshop
3025 New Holland Road, Reading, PA 19607
How to Teach Science Concepts Outdoors for Middle and High School Educators.
Join our education staff as they share their best techniques for teaching older students about the natural world around them. Participants will be outdoors for a large portion of the day as we model best practices for teaching outside while considering the safety of students and living things.
We will also share lesson resources from the curriculum guide - PA Biodiversity - which all participants will receive. This workshop focuses on phenomenon-based learning using local Pennsylvania examples and is designed for middle and high school level classrooms. Teachers will learn how to integrate Cross Cutting Concepts and Science and Engineering Practices into their outdoor teaching. And our teaching techniques are designed to be applicable for all level classroom teachers.
This workshop is open to any teacher, educator or school administrator who would like to become more comfortable teaching students outdoors. Registration required. Five Act 48 hours will be available.
Please bring your brown bag lunch as we have no food on site.
