Join state park naturalists for a fun night of owling! First, we will learn all about owls in Pennsylvania and then we will set out on an owl prowl.
During this time of year, owls are looking for their perfect match and scouting territories to raise young. The owl love language, heard through hoots, chuckles, and caws can be distinguished by the species and is often heard throughout the area. While walking the towpath under the cover of night, we will attempt to hear and see owls found within the surrounding forest. Our best attempt at hearing/seeing owls will require a quieter audience while prowling. This hike will be over slightly uneven terrain.
- Bathrooms: There is a port-o-john at the parking lot.
- What to Bring: Appropriate footwear for hiking is required. Please be sure to bring a flashlight.
- Special Considerations: This is an after-dark program. As much as we love our furry friends, this is not a dog-friendly program.
This event will be canceled in the event of heavy rain or snow, or because of dangerous driving conditions.
