DESCRIPTION:Our present landscapes in western Pennsylvania offer clues to t
 he past\, including the lead up to the Revolutionary war\, and the early d
 ays of our new nation. Join Jennings staff on Saturday\, June 13 at 9 am f
 or a guided hike to explore how the land around us both shaped and was sha
 ped by these moments in time. From our geology\, flora\, and fauna to the 
 evidence of human use throughout that time\, participants will discover wa
 ys of seeing the landscape that help to unravel some of the myths and myst
 eries in our revolutionary history. This program is meant for adults and c
 hildren over 12 and is free with no registration is required. The hike wil
 l begin at the Center and will last around 3 hours\, covering approximatel
 y 3 miles over varied terrain with both hills and uneven surfaces. \n\n \n
 \nCounting down to America’s 250th birthday on July 4\, 2026\, DCNR has 
 partnered with America250PA to celebrate the role of Pennsylvania’s publ
 ic outdoor spaces and their impact on the Commonwealth. Focusing on Americ
 a250PA’s theme of “Educate\, Preserve\, Innovate\, and Celebrate” (E
 PIC)\, DCNR is helping to engage citizens in all 67 counties to commemorat
 e this momentous occasion. The distance walked/hiked during this event and
  any other hosted by DCNR can be used for America250PA’s Road to 2026 Ce
 lebrate Pennsylvania challenge.
