Old Fashioned Apple Festival

Come out and visit us for our annual Apple Festival! See demonstrations of cider squeezing, apple butter boiling, and corn grinding at historic Shoaff’s Mill in Little Buffalo State Park. Sample fresh squeezed cider and cornbread while enjoying live entertainment and kid's activities. An old fashioned cake walk is scheduled for Saturday at 1pm.

Entertainment includes:

Debby Noy  - Book readings Saturday at 10:30am and 1:15pm

Book readings Sunday at 10:30am and 12:30pm

Debra Kay Noye creatively tells the story of two young boys who discover their great grandmother's long lost scrapbook full of fascinating stories and tales from the past, as well as having a few adventures of their own along the way. Full of local Perry County history, this book is made for all ages to read and enjoy, and we are happy to have her join us at this year's Apple Festival!

Jay Smar - Saturday from 11am-2pm (with breaks during readings). Jay specializes in folk music, some original and some traditional, particularly from Northeastern PA.

Kevin Neidig - Sunday from 11am-2pm (with breaks during readings). Kevin plays a variety of folk music and is a new talent to our festival!

                       *Before you arrive, please note*

This event is free and there are activities for all ages. Pets are allowed, but please keep in mind that this is a crowded area and your pet will not enjoy this as much as you do. Pets will not be allowed inside the Mill during the festival. Exceptions will be certified service animals ONLY due to the crowds.

Parking will mostly be in the field across the road. We will have handicap *drop-off* only next to the mill - all handicap parking will be in the East Area near Pavilion 3 and the stage. Please obey all traffic signs and rangers parking vehicles. DO NOT park in grassy areas along roadways or blocking intersections unless directed by a ranger.

If you would like to purchase apple butter please bring your own clean, marked jars. Some jars will be available but they are limited. Apple Butter is made by volunteers with the Perry Historians and apple butter proceeds benefit the Historians. This event is organized by the park, and cornmeal proceeds and donationsbenefit the Friends of Little Buffalo to continue to provide these festivals and to provide recreational opportunities for visitors here at Little Buffalo. Cornmeal will be for sale after the festival at the park office.

Volunteers are needed to help in a variety of areas. We need help with setting up and manning tables for kid's activities, selling cornmeal, helping with tours, and working the sample tables. For more information or if you would like to volunteer, contact the park office by calling 717-567-9255 or by emailing littlebuffsp@pa.gov.
