Nature Detectives: Map Mysteries
2951 Prospect Rd., Slippery Rock, PA 16057-5023
On Sunday, December 8 from 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM, families are invited to become “nature detectives," at Jennings Environmental Education Center. Families will uncover the mysteries of map reading and basic compass use. They will try out their newly-found skills by practicing on an actual orienteering course.
Orienteering is a sport in which participants find their way to various checkpoints across various terrains with the aid of a map and compass. It is a great hobby to get children and adults outside enjoying nature.
Jennings’ Nature Detectives programs are designed for families with children age six and older, as well as anyone who is a kid at heart. Children should be accompanied by a parent or other adult. Participants should dress appropriately and prepare for an active, outdoor learning adventure. Pre-registration is required by Friday, December, 6 and space is limited. Register to the right or by calling 724-794-6011.
