National Public Lands Day Volunteer Event

Jennings Environmental Education Center is looking for volunteers to pitch in at the park in celebration of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 23 from 9 am – 1 pm.  Volunteers will do trail work and other park improvement projects for approximately 2.5 hours, and then receive a lunch and commemorative t-shirt for their efforts!  Participants must be age 12 or older and must register for the program by contacting the Center at 724-794-6011 or registering online (green register button) no later than September 13. 

National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands American's enjoy. For three decades, National Public Lands Day (NPLD) has united communities in the care and celebration of our nation's public lands.

More than 70,000 participants are expected to join in trail maintenance projects, park and river clean ups, tree planting activities, invasive species removal projects, as well as hikes and other fun activities throughout the country.  Trail construction and rehabilitation will be the focus of the day at Jennings.  

Jennings is open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM weekdays and on weekends as scheduled.  The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset for hiking and other environmentally related activities.

 If you need an accommodation to participate in park activities due to a disability, please contact the park you plan to visit. With at least three days notice, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for educational programs.
