National Trail Day Hike
Could we be walking where George Washington walked? The trail we now know as Alpha Pass, on the North Country Trail, was likely in existence when a young George Washington made his historic trip in 1753. Learn more as we experience this rugged trail in the Slippery Rock Gorge. The gorge is the home of the historic McConnells Mill, which was built 101 years after Washington’s mission. At the end of the hike, the gristmill will be open and available for an optional guided tour. The other trails of the park will be discussed, enhancing your further hiking, on your own. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy footwear, and bring snacks and water. Park and meet your guide in the Point Parking Area.
