Act 48: 2 hrs./session
Workshop 2: February 18th, 2021 5:30 PM-7:30 PM (2 ACT48 Hours)
Pennsylvania certified teachers are invited to explore, engage and learn about resources and materials needed to create meaningful, locally relevant outdoor learning experiences for their students through the lens of the Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE). This virtual workshop series will feature guest speakers, interactive activities, access to resources, and opportunities for discussion and reflection centered on clean water issues.
Teachers who participate in full sessions will earn 2 ACT48 hours/session. In addition, a workshop kit will be mailed to each registrant prior to each workshop. The kit will include materials teachers can use with their students to investigate water quality testing; macroinvertebrate sampling; surveying; and nature journaling.
The first 20 registrants will also receive a basic water quality test kit!
*With support and funding from a NOAA BWET grant, teachers in IU13 and IU15 are eligible for a stipend for full attendance at each session.
Workshop meetings will be held via Zoom (links will be sent out upon registration).
Course materials will be housed in Google Sites (directions for accessing will be sent upon registration).
To learn about MWEE prior to the workshops, consider completing NOAA’s MWEE101 online course (3 additional ACT48 hours are available for completion of this course): cbexapp.noaa.gov/course/view.php?id=5555
