Bring your own kayak and equipment out for an adult-only moonlight paddle! Kayak under a full or near-full moon, with only the light of the moon to guide your way. See the stars and experience the night life on the lake as we paddle from the boat launch to the upper end and up the stream. 

Please be aware, this is not an intro to kayaking. You must have your own equipment and you must wear a coast guard approved life jacket. No exceptions! Night time is not the time to learn to kayak.

Registration: This event is FREE and no PRIOR registration is required. We ask that you simply SIGN IN and SIGN OUT at the beginning and end of your paddle!

Requirements: Kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, or other legal craft brought to the moonlight paddle MUST have a launch permit or mooring permit. Paddlers must be equipped with a sound producing device (whistle) and white light (NOT a cell phone light). Reds and greens are used by powered craft. However, glow sticks secured to your kayak are a great addition to a boat and make it fun and easier to find your friends in the dark!

Location: We will meet at the main boat launch off of boat launch road.

Launch Time: We will generally launch approximately 30 minutes after sunset. Depending on the day, we may shift launch time up or back slightly. Please be ready to go at least 10 minutes prior to launch time.

Accommodations: Paddling can be accessible for all! If you need to use the ADA boat access, please let us know ahead of the program and we can plan our route. We can also assist people with launching from the regular launch if needed. If you need special accommodations, please notify our office no less than 48 hours ahead of the program. 

Weather: We WILL kayak on a cloudy night. We will NOT kayak on a stormy night! Watch the weather, and if you are unsure of the status of the event, call the park office at 717-567-9255 or check our Facebook page for updates.
