Moonlight Paddle

BYOK – Bring your own kayak for a moonlight paddle! Kayak under a near-full moon, watch the stars and experience the night life on the lake! Bug spray is recommended, as are headlamps or lights with red light. A regular white light is also required to be with you (though not recommended to keep on) when paddling. A cell phone does not count as a white light. You must register as you arrive. The event is free, but you will be required to sign in and sign out for safety reasons. 

This is NOT an intro to kayaking and we will not be loaning out our kayaks for this event. You must have your own life jacket (and wear it!) and whistle. You must also be 18 years or older and have kayaked before. Night time is not the time to learn to kayak.

We will start meeting roughly an hour prior to launch (you don't need to be that early, but you can if you'd like). We will meet at the main boat launch on Boat Launch Road, which is in the East (Mill) Day Use Area. Please be ready to launch at the time listed. We will launch roughly 1/2 hour after sunset.

Kayaks are dependent on weather. Please be aware that cloudy days may affect moon lighting and meteor shower viewing. We will still kayak if it is cloudy, but we will not kayak if it is raining or there is a threat of storms. Check the park's Facebook page or call if you are unsure of the weather. Times may be adjusted as well due to weather or other circumstances.

Friday Sept. 29th - Harvest Moon - Launch time: 7:30pm

Saturday Oct. 28th - Hunter's Moon - Launch time: 6:30pm
