DESCRIPTION:It is time once again to observe the annual migration of our fa
mous butterfly\, the Monarch! If you are interested in learning about this
amazing insect\, please join Park Naturalists on Saturday\, September 4\,
2021\, from 9 am to Noon. You will learn about Monarch biology\, their li
fe cycle\, and participate in actual tagging efforts. We will meet at 9am
at the AAUW Pavilion at TREC. After the initial class on biology and how t
o tag\, we will all drive our own vehicles down to Presque Isle to visit a
few prime feeding sites in order to collect and tag the butterflies. All
tagging equipment is provided. For COVID safety reasons\, as well as logi
stical considerations\, this event is limited to 20 participants. Registra
tion is required. Please register no later than Wednesday\, September 1\,
2021. \n\nAll Current DCNR COVID safety measures will be followed by park
staff. If you are not vaccinated\, you are expected to wear a mask and mai
ntain social distancing. If you are vaccinated\, then it is your choice to
wear a mask\, although social distancing will still be expected. Park sta
ff will sanitize and clean all equipment before and after the event. The e
quipment that you are given to use should not be shared among those who ar
e not in your family group. \n\nWe will NOT tag if the weather is not cond
ucive to butterfly flight\, which means no rain\, and no unusually cool te
mperatures or fog. Be prepared to bring sunscreen\, insect repellant and w
ater. If we do NOT tag\, we will still hold an informative class on their
biology and life cycle. \n\nTo Register\, Please click on the Green Button
