The 19th century gristmill is the centerpiece of McConnells Mill State Park.  During autumn, the historic gristmill at McConnells Mill State Park is open Thursdays through Sundays from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Admission is free. The mill is also open Labor Day and Columbus Day, and closes for the season after Sunday, October 19, 2025. Interpretive tours of the historic mill are scheduled at 1:00 and 2:00 PM daily, or by request. Tours for groups may be scheduled by calling the Moraine State Park office 724 368-8811. Construction on the road and removal of stone steps and pouring of new concrete on stairs trail from the picnic area may impact traffic and trail patterns.  Park at the Kildoo Picnic Area or Point Parking and hike the road down to the mill. Limited parking, for people with disabilities, may be available beside the mill. Visit, or revisit, this gem of history within the Slippery Rock Gorge, a National Natural Landmark.
