CANCELED - Maple Weekend Open House

111 Spillway Road, Wellsboro, PA 16901-9676

Free Event

CANCELED - Amid concerns about the potential spread of COVID-19, all public programs, events, and trainings in state parks and forests are canceled through April 30. Except for the parks and forests that have been announced as closed, state park and forest facilities remain open.

Bring the whole family to Hills Creek State Park and learn how pure maple syrup is processed from the tree to your table. The Maple Open House will be held in conjunction with the Potter/Tioga Maple Producers annual maple weekend. Taste our finished product, and find out how you can ‘tap’ into the resource in your own backyard. Arrive anytime between 10am and 3pm. Plan to enjoy about 45-minutes with us in order to experience what each station has to offer. You will learn how to identify maple trees, how to tap trees and collect sap, the history of maple syrup making, and how the finished product is made. This event is free. Large groups should contact the park to schedule a private tour (either on this weekend or another time in-season, as schedules and mother nature allow).
