CANCELED through April 30 - Maple Sugaring
28 Fairview Road, Penfield, PA 15849-9799
CANCELED through April 30 - Amid concerns about the potential spread of COVID-19, all public programs, events, and trainings in state parks and forests are canceled through April 30. Except for the parks and forests that have been announced as closed, state park and forest facilities remain open.
March is Maple Sugaring Season at Parker Dam State Park and you can come learn how real maple syrup is made. You’ll discover the sweet story of maple sugaring—how it was discovered, how it was made years ago, and how you can make it today.
You will see examples of both backyard hobby and large scale facets of the sugaring trade. Learn to identify maple trees in winter, how to choose the right trees for tapping, where to place the taps, and so on. A few lucky participants will tap a maple tree, gather in the sap, and help out. Best part—there will be free taste samples for all visitors. Discover the tradition. Meet at the Sugar Shack, near Pavilion 7—just past Cabin Road.
