Targeted Grade Levels: 4-12

There’s nothing like the real thing! Join us at this unique location for this one of a kind professional development opportunity! During this workshop, you will learn how to make animal study skins (all materials provided), how to prepare other wildlife specimens for education, and how to keep your existing collections in good shape (banish all moisture!). This workshop will also cover permits, regulations, safety. You’ll also be given standards-based activities that utilize specimens. Time will also be allotted for on-your-own PA State Museum exploration. This workshop is presented by Carbon County EEC, DCNR-Bureau of State Parks, Tom Wampler, retired Microbiologist, and Professional Collections Consultant John Simmons of Museologica. This workshop is made possible by a grant from the PA Department of Environmental Protection and support from the PA State Museum.
