Log Cabins of Chestnut
101 Pine Grove Road, Fayetteville, PA 17222-8224
The Chestnut Blight arrived in 1904 and devastated the Appalachians within 40 years. In a movement to escape the ills of industrial cities, people built small forest communities with the Chestnut logs that had died from disease. We will walk three miles using an old section of the Appalachian Trail, and then walk past some of these cabins that are nearly a century old.
