If you like to backpack, but don't like carrying a heavy load, this class will show ways to cut the weight without going primitive. We’ll cover equipment choices, land navigation, lost proofing, traveling at night, supplementing with edible plants, and other skills to make your outdoor experience enjoyable, safe and light-weight. Principles of “Leave No Trace” backpacking and camping will be our guide for proper outdoor ethics. The weekend of August 17 and 18 we’ll strap on our modified light-weight packs, spend the afternoon hiking park trails, and do an overnight campout. Unless you have backpacking experience, you must attend the July 30 preparation class to attend. For questions, email Patrick Adams at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 724-899-3611. No registration needed for the July 30 prep class, just show up. Free program.
