Laser-guided Night Sky Tour: Moon and Planets
Experience the wonder of the night sky through a laser-guided tour led by park staff. Watch as we point out constellations, stars, and planets while listening to constellation legends and lore.
🌌Milky Way Visibility (if clear skies): Poor. Bright full moon drowns the fainter Milky Way. Most visible after 4:30 AM, after this program has ended and the moon has set.
---
🗺️Where: Use entrance here, park in the lot. Walk around the hill to the viewing field, the Night Sky Public Viewing Area.
💼Bring: Red-light flashlight, extra layers/blankets, and a folding/camp chair.
🚫Leave at home: Pets (only trained service animals allowed), alcohol, recreational drugs.
☁️Cloud Plan: If it's cloudy, but not activiely raining or storming, stop by anyway! We'll give a screen presentation on what we would be seeing, and may highlight some wonders of the nocturnal world.
---
➡️ Check the Clear Sky Chart or AccuWeather Stargazing Forecasts for 48-hour forecasts of cloud cover and viewing conditions.
All programs will be cancelled in the event of rain or thunder/lightning.
We ask that park visitors please leave their pets at home. Dim lighting, large crowds and sensitive equipment do not create a pet-friendly environment.
