Knotweed Knock-Out

305 State Park Road, Oil City, PA 16301-9733

Free Event

Join the park naturalist for an incredibly important volunteer day at Oil Creek State Park.  Japanese Knotweed has invaded the park, and we need your help to fight back.  This plant can be found along almost the entire length of Oil Creek, including the roughly 12 miles of creek that flows through the park.

We'll spend some time getting familiar with identifying Japanese Knotweed before heading out with loppers to cut it to the ground.  We'll have to remove every bit we cut to avoid starting new colonies.  This event will target our day use areas.

All necessary equipment will be provided including gloves and loppers.  Please note that Japanese Knotweed thrives in wet areas.  You will want to dress accordingly by wearing clothes that you don't mind getting wet, and bringing a dry set to change into. Bring waders if you have them.

Registration is required.  To register, click the green 'register' button or call the park naturalist at 814.676.1810.

Masks are currently required for unvaccinated participants.
