As part of a movement to promote health, nature, and local parks and trails, a month-long campaign is encouraging communities and health professionals to get active together during “Walk with a Doc” programs across Pennsylvania. The statewide initiative will run throughout PA Trails Month in September with a kick-off event at Hess Recreation Area in Danville on Aug. 24 starting at 5 p.m.

Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn will join Dr. Michael Suk, chief physician officer and chair of Geisinger’s Musculoskeletal Institute and Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and Walk with a Doc officials for the Hess Recreation Area event. 

The event with feature brief remarks and will be followed by a mile walk on a loop trail. Masks are requested during the remarks. The public is invited to participate.  Participation in the Danville walk and those throughout September are free to the entire community and pre-registration is not required.
