Keystone Trails Work Day

1150 Keystone Park Road, Derry, PA 15627-3679

If you love Keystone State Park, this is your chance to give back. Meet at the James Kell Visitor Center at 10AM so that we can work together for some simple trail maintenance. Our trails provide a lot of recreational joy to those that visit them and they periodically need a little bit of work to make sure that they're passable. We'll be cutting back over grown grass as well as trimming back some branches that are making their way into the trails. And, of course, just generally looking for and picking up trash along the way.

If you have gear such as gloves, clippers, lobbers, etc. bring them along. We have tools and gear but its limited and this way we can make sure that we can have enough for everyone. Be sure to wear comfortable, close-toed shoes as well as comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.

For those that would like to stick around after, bring your swim suit or wading clothes, water shoes, and a towel. Once we're done with the trail, park naturalist Jean will provide a brief introduction to the wonderful world of mussels and we'll take a look in various points along the lake to see if we can find any.

Food will be provided so please click the register button so that we can get an estimate of how many volunteers to expect. If you have any questions, please contact Jean at 724-668-2939 or jkeene@pa.gov.
