Introduction to the World of Bats

Bats are a fascinating, unique, & important group of mammals! This program will discuss the various ecological roles that bats play around the world & highlight the diversity of bats in Pennsylvania. Threats to Pennsylvania’s bats will also be discussed as well as how we can study & respond to these challenges.

Bald Eagle State Park is the site of a study currently being conducted with the help of researchers from Ohio University & the Pennsylvania Game Commission. This study focuses on endangered bat species that are still found in the area & seeks to understand why they may survive & how we can help promote their conservation. Joseph Johnson, Assistant Professor at Ohio University, will be our guest speaker for this program. Meet at the Environmental Learning Center (ELC).
